Geri quoted “When you invest in yourself, you show worth and value. You should not take this literal though, materialistic things are not the only thing to invest in. Look around you, what type investment you can make that can take you to the next level”
I loved this so much because it’s so true. We spend so much time investing in the wrong things and even in the wrong people sometimes. Lately, I have certainly been investing on myself, my time, my space and my overall feelings. Two years ago when I was part time investing in my blog, I sacrificed everything and decided to go full time, wow was it worth it. In 2016 when I started seeing the fruits of my labor, I decided to invest more on quality pieces vs. quantity. Quality allowed me to create more space for myself and it allowed me to grow as a blogger, grow I certainly did. Not everyone can relate and go spend their savings on a Chanel, but I feel like when people see you come from nothing, it gives them inspiration that they can too. I honestly never thought I would own one and I made it happen last year. I worked hard and I made it a possible thing for me. My blog was growing and I felt like I needed a “proud of you” reminder and it was aspiring others that anything is possible too. After time passed, my investment expanded to high quality photos, clothing I style for posts, and even technical stuff for my blog.
These days I still continue to believe in that self investment. Just like personal things like going to the doctor for a check up, the dentist for a clean up, a little alone time, phone breaks. Whatever your investment is, make it worth it. Invest on people who invest in you too. Trust me there are people who I had in my life for years and have yet to come by my to check on me. Always full of excuses when it comes to you so don’t feel bad to cut bad investment off. Most importantly, be selfish with yourself.
Since we are talking about investing and a little fashion talk don’t hurt, this amazing dress is from @allthingsmochi. What I love about them is that they sell handcrafted pieces by artisans from around the world. So yes, you will pay a bit more, but also the workers get paid fairly not like a forever21 employees. I was happy to spot Sincerely Jules wearing this beauty, but I gave it my own little spin with sexy heels. However, you can transformed this look almost in a million ways. You can wear without the belt, with jeans and flats.
